Before you publish an offer

How do you calculate contribution profit per order?

Price minus discount, minus unit cost, minus the shipping you pay, minus payment fees on the amount collected, minus an allowance for refunds. What is left is contribution profit per order.

What is profit per visitor (CPV)?

Contribution profit per order multiplied by conversion rate — the money left per visitor. It measures a conversion-rate change and an average-order-value change on the same traffic, so a win in one is not read in isolation from the other.

What free-shipping threshold is profitable?

Start from the floor: the order value at which what is left after unit cost, payment fees and the shipping you pay still covers that shipping. The floor is not the line you publish — the published threshold needs your own order-value distribution, because a lower line can win on conversion rate while a higher line wins on profit per visitor. Do not derive it from an average order value.

What is the maximum discount I can give?

Your break-even discount equals your contribution margin rate. Past that point every extra order loses money.
